  • Naughty or Nice?

Think about this for a bit, who has more fun on a general basis, those who are naughty, or those who are nice? I am not eluding, to those on the extreme, but
just those people, who are not afraid to take a risk to get what they want, every now and then. Let's say for instance, a guy sees a girl on the train and thinks to himself, she is very attractive. Another gentleman sees the same woman, and thinks the same thing, after all, she is a nice looking woman. The first man decides he is going to move closer and take a little chance. The second man, thinks to himself, I'd like to talk to her, but it would be rude, to just go up to her and start a conversation, besides, she might not respond, so he stays where he is. Mean while, the other man, has gotten close to the woman, standing in the aisle, hanging on to the train strap, and when the train jerks a bit, he throws himself into her, and acts as if he lost his balance. Naturally, he apologizes, asking for forgiveness, for being so clumsy, and falling into her. She looks at him, accepts his apology, he does not miss a beat, as he starts a converstation about nonsense, she joins in. Before too long, he produces his business card, and asks her, if she would not mind giving him her business number. At least he would be able to find her, she obliges. Eventually, they meet for drinks and from there, I will let your imagination finish the story. The other guy stood watching from afar as, all this took place, on the train. So, who do you think will enjoy himself the most, in the short term, Mr. Naughty, or Mr. Nice? Mr. Risky Business or Naughty, Naughty, will possibly have a bit more fun, than Mr. Play it Safe. Sometimes it pays to take the chance, be a little naughty, and reap the potential rewards, you never know. Things may not always work out, but how would you know, if you never took the chance. So try a little naughtiness and spice up your life. :o)
    Take care.

  • First Episode of Saturday Night Live, Featuring George Carlin

Hi, This Saturday, June 28, Saturday Night Live, will air the very first episode of the show, featuring George Carlin as host. Time of airing will be 11:30 pm
    EST.

  • Take it Up With Her!

    Please don't darken my doorstep,
With your tales of misery and woe,
From the very depths, of your cold heart,
Tears falling, dropping all over the ground.
Am I supposed to believe, that this is real?
You are no more sorry, than a cat, that
Just devoured, a little yellow bird.
That's your nature, take what you want,
But if it backfires, and makes you sick,
Then you beg for forgiveness, pleading you care,
My ears are closed, no more to hear,
Your feeble case, for togetherness again,
You had your chance, now please move on.
Find another place, to spin your pitiful tale.

  • Are You Running Your Life, or Is Your Life Running You?

Have you stopped for a moment, to slow down, and appreciate your life, or are you too busy, "staying alive" as the Bee Gees sang, so long ago, to revel in
the life you live? Are you taking care of yourself, as you should? Are you eating too much, exercising too little? Staying up too late, getting up too early Not resting, resting too much?
It is very important, it would seem, to strike a balance, between all things in life, or at least some of the important things. Vacations are important, you can't appreciate the time off, until you feel your body decompressing. Whenever I used to take a cruise, I would stay in my cabin, for at least two days, just to decompress, from my five day a week job. The stress builds up, without your ever realizing it. You find yourself on some kind of stessful high, and your revs need to slow down, at some point, or your body will suffer.
Therefore, I feel a vacation, should be thought of as a very important part of your life, either a short, or a long vacation. Twice a year is very good, and you might want to make it a priority. So think about it, and be good to yourself. Your body and your mind, will be thankful, and in turn will serve you well, in the
future. It's well worth it, please send me a postcard.

  • Easy Does It!

Calm down and take your time,
No need to rush, or be in haste,
You are in a very good place.
You did it, you stood your ground.
Decided what you wanted to do,
No matter what the others said.
This is your life, your challenge,
    Taking it up, with yourself,
You have come out of it, a winner.
It means a lot, to hold the reins,
You are the one, who will be there,
Your life, will be the one affected.
So be proud of yourself, and
All that you are, and have done,
It's a good day, and going to get better,
Because you, you alone, took control!

  • The Carlin Wit, Has Been Silenced.

Hi there. On Sunday, one of the great talents of comedy was stricken and died. George Carlin checked into St. Paul's Medical Center, in Santa Monica, California, where he succumbed to a heart attack. He
had survived three heart attacks in the past. Mr. Carlin was 71 years old, he is survived by his wife and daughter.
Mr. Carlin in his younger days, was a member of the
    Air Force.
Mr. Carlin was the first host of Saturday Night Live,
in 1975. He released 22 comedy albums, wrote three books, and won two Grammy Awards.
HBO was his biggest success, in 21 years, he had 14 stand-up specials. The last, It's Bad for Ya, aired in March. This year, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, announced, that it was going to honor Mr. Carlin, with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. The prize was going to be presented on November 10, in a televised tribute performance.
Mr. Carlin was considered to be the successor, to groundbreaking comic Lenny Bruce.
Mr. Carlin was admitted to the hospital Sunday, complaining of chest pains, he died at 9 p.m. EST.
Mr. Carlin's special wit and humor, will be missed by many, many people. His famous seven words, you cannot say on television, was a favorite rendition for him. The entertainment community, has lost a star.

  • You Shall be Free!

    Disappearing darkness and clouds,
Moving out, to some other place.
No longer hovering, over your home.
Or taking up space, where you dwell,
Leaving you free, of troubling thought.
Making your day, less filled with pity or shame.
Go, take up residence, in another town,
Where those you stalk, do not mind,
The deary casting of shadows, drab.
Let your spirits lift up, as they soar.
For time is short, and your life,
    Should be, much more carefree.

  • Oh, The Mighty Mississippi!

It's very hard to watch, the waters of the Mississippi, on the news, as the flooding goes on and on, in the midwest. According to reports, the residents worked hard, filling and lifting heavy sandbags, to try and shore up the levees along the banks of the great Mississippi River. The longest river in the United States was raging, from all of the rain that had come down, for so long. The flooding began in eastern Iowa, causing more than $1.5 billion
in estimated damages. Thousands of residents had to evacate their homes, as the flood waters moved south. Residents raced to add more sandbags to the levees which protect, dozens of Mississippi towns which would possibly be affected.
The National Guard joined in with the hundreds of volunteers, filling sandbags, and trying to reinforce,
the barriers, in southeastern Iowa, eastern Missouri and western Illinois. The flood waters swamped farmland and communities. The crops in the fields will no doubt be completely devastated.
The town streets in La Grange, Missouri filled with water as the Mississippi River, for the third time in fifteen years, showed no mercy. The residents had rebuilt their homes, in the town of about one thousand people, after floods in 1993 and 2001. The former Mayor of La Grange, reportedly lamented, to the Associated Press, that he could not do it again.
The problem with trying to sandbag and stop the water, according to the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, was trying to figure out, which barriers might crumble beneath the strong, mounting water pressure. They did not know where to spend their valuable time and energy,
to stop the worst of the flooding, before it occurred.
At some places along the Mississippi, the waters are starting to recede in a few areas, but many towns will take an amazing amount of time and money, to get back to any semblence of normality. Meanwhile as the waters move downstream, more leeves are in danger of being breeched, and more towns flooded, fields of corn being
destroyed as the waters run through.
The total estimated damages, along the Mississippi, will be in the multi-billions, according to reports.
A related USA Today story, floodwaters loaded with farm runoff, headed down the Mississippi River, and will possibly increase the size of this summers' dead zone, in the Gulf of Mexico, which covers an area, the size of the state of Maryland. The dead zone, is a section of the Gulf of Mexico, that becomes starved,
for oxygen, during much of the summer, and cannot support fish or other sea life. The zone in the Gulf is the largest in the Western Hemisphere. The dead zone tends to grow after floods. It will certainly be an interesting summer for those who reside near the
    zone.
    :Now Public
    :LA Times
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those people affected by the mighty Mississippi flooding.

  • Is It Possible to Lead If?

Is it possible to lead, if you cannot give a good speech?
Is one of the qualities of a good leader, the ability to inspire people through words?
I am not much of a historian, and I was trying to think of the people, in previous times, who lead and
inspired, without being able to inspire through their words. Can't think of many. There is the saying, that actions speak louder than words, but you may follow a person, by modeling yourself after their actions, but even in that case, there has to be some communication. Some words, even to let you know, that there is appreciation of your actions, from your role model, I would think. I have listened to people who wish to lead, give speeches, and they were rather bland and colorless, and really boring, and I came away thinking, this is going nowhere fast. If the individual is unable to deliver some semblence of inspiration, for whatever they want you to do, on their behalf, where would you get the desire to perform the task, they want you to complete. So I have come to my own conclusion, that if I cannot start an inspirational fire, in the belly of my followers, if I cannot give them a reason to follow me, through my words, then I should find another vocation, my leadership skills are questionable at the least and wanting at best. So I leave you with the question, can a person lead, if they cannot give a good speech, or cannot inspire his or her followers, with their words?
    Talk to me.

  • Letting Go: Stop Chasing Ghosts

Have you been caught up in situations, where you are trying to hang on to something, that is just not going to turn out like you want it to. A "friendship", in which the person who is supposed to be a friend, keeps turning your life into a negative nightmare. Almost everytime you are having a good day, they come along and take all the air out of your happy balloon, and make you as miserable as they are. These are usually people who are so caught up in negativity, that the only thing they see, is dark and gloomy, and they will not be satisfied until you are down in that dismal place with them.
Or, are you in a relationship, with an individual, who you are always arguing with? You get along for a while, because you think you love this person, but somehow, the two of you end up in some kind of heated disagreement, constantly. It goes beyond the limits of civil discussion. You keep thinking well, he will change or she will change for the better. Well guess what, it's not going to happen. There is something fundamentally out of whack with the union. You and your partner, have some issue that has not been resolved, and unless that issue is talked about and dealt with, you are going to continue to wind up right back at that same point. You are chasing ghosts, either deal with the problem or move on. You want it to be honky dory, perhaps, this is not who you are able to be your best self with, sometimes love is not enough. Face reality, stop chasing something that you think should or will be. Same thing with the friendship, if someone, is going to rain on your parade all the time, how does that help your existence? Stop chasing ghosts, time is valuable, and we only have so much of it. Take charge of your life and make the changes, that are necessary to have a positive existence. Leave those ghosts in the past, and move on to a more productive and happy life. Peace is priceless. Take care.

  • Pick on Somebody Your Own Size!

Hey, I sort of like this story. A couple of young girls were selling lemonade, in their neighborhood, when an older young man, decided he wanted the money they had earned. He grabbed their change container, knocked one of the young girls over and ran off. The second girl chased him to an apartment building.
As she was chasing him, she took out her cell phone, dialed 911, and kept chasing the young man. It should be noted, that the young lady was quite smaller than the older young man, maybe by 100 pounds or so. That
didn't stop the courageous young girl.
The police arrived at the apartment building and found the culprit, and arrested him. The young man apologized, on camera, he said he'd never do anything like that again. At least he won't bother trying to steal that young ladies'money. She was just a little too big for him. If you know what I mean.
    Have a good day.

  • Hug , Then Hug Some More

    Hugs are good,
    Hugs are healthy,
    Hugs help to motivate,
    Hugs are energizing,
    Hugs stop the tears,
    Hugs help you persevere.
    Hugs give you warmth,
    Even when they are over.
    Hugs are soothing,
    Hugs show that you care,
    Hugs will give you strength.
    So give someone a hug,
    As often as you can,
    Hugs are very good.
So hug, and hug some more.

  • Preventing Lyme's Disease

Don't ask me why, but I came across this article, so I thought I would share, hope that it's of some use to someone. Take care.
TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM LYME DISEASE, wear long sleeves and pants, whenever hiking, or walking in the woods or tall grasses, even in warm weather. Search your body carefully after walking to uncover ticks, who can be quite minute. Symptoms of Lyme disease include, feeling flu like and deep joint and muscle pain. If you notice a crimson circle or bullseye
on your skin, seek medical help immediately. The bullseye is the tick's telltale sign of a bite. Lyme
disease affects each individual differently, with some requiring no more than a cycle of antibiotics, while others require hospitalization. Unfortunately, Lyme
disease symptoms, mirrors those of other ailments, and can, therefore, be misdiagnosed. Try to educate yourself about it, as much as possible, because its impact is lifelong and far reaching. People's careers and lives have been derailed, as a result of Lyme infection. Protecting yourself from Lyme's dreaded consequences is your best option.

  • Tiger Eludes His Tracker Again

Hi, hi, Well he wins when he's well, and he wins when he is in pain. At the U. S. Open, this past weekend, Tiger Woods won again. Tiger is just an amazing sportsman, he is on a track by himself, he doesn't give up, and it didn't matter if his
knee was giving him pain all day, he just kept going forward, making shots that seem impossible sometimes. Out of bunkers, out of the rough, from between trees, you name it he figures it out. The match on Sunday, and the 18 hole playoff
on Monday, were something to watch. It should be said, that Rocco Mediate gave Tiger a tough run for his money. Rocco had a chance during the game on Sunday to win, but Tiger pulled out his magic talent and tied Rocco, to take the tournament into an 18 hole playoff, on Monday.
Rocco was three strokes down at one point during the playoff, and it appeared as if it was over.
Tiger stumbled, missing some shots, making bad shots, and allowed Rocco, to tie him, after being 3 strokes up. In the end it came down to Tiger making his shot to extend the playoff to the next hole, he made it, but Rocco missed his putt and Tiger won the game, in suddden death.
Tiger is only 4 away from tieing Jack Nicklaus'
record for the most wins on the PGA tournament.
They played at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California for the first time. It was an excellently played match by both men, for the championship. The real capoff after the game, for the championship, occurred when Tiger's wife bought their little girl, out on the course to see him, he hugged his daughter, and gave her back to her mother, but the little girl pulled away from her mother's arms and reached for her father, she wanted to go with him. It was a great scene, being that Father's day was on Sunday. Tiger had the biggest smile on his face.
It is clear that, he is in a good place. Go Tiger, go.

  • Prince William

Hi there, Today, the eventual future King, with a few years to go, Prince William of England, was installed into The Knights of the Garter. He
was the 1000th inductee, into this order. I love the pomp and ceremony of British Royalty. Prince William wore a black Tudor hat, with a white plume feather, a blue velvet cape, the Badge of
the Star, the Medallion of St George, and a garter on his leg. Forgive me for being shallow,
but the whole thing was a kick for me.
This order, as I understand it, originated from an incident, which occurred in 1348, at a party, where a woman, who was dancing, lost her garter,
the King picked the garter up and pinned it on himself, and said "let no man see evil in this act", and eventually the elite order, The Knights of the Garter were formed. There are only 25 members in the special group, women were added in 1987. All of the Queen's children, with the exception of Prince Harry, are members. Harry will be added at a later date, it is reported. Prince William's father, Prince Charles, was inducted exactly 40 years ago. The order was established some 660 years ago. The members are to be loyal and of service to the sovereign. The Queen and her husband, Prince Phillip, were given a wedding gift by King George, VI, in 1947 and both were inducted into the order. This order is the highest order, that the Queen can bestow. The Government had bestowed the honor, for a long time, until the Queen took the honor back in the forties. The chapel bells pealed in honor of Prince William's induction, he had been invested earlier, in April of this year. This was the formal ceremony, and the weather co-operated very well. Carry on Prince William.

  • Last Two Standing

Hi, hi, After all is said and done here in the US of A, we have two candidates vying to be President and lead the country. Hopefully that leadership will put us back on some kind of sound footing. One of the candidates wants to borrow $2 trillion dollars, to take care of the war and whatever other war, he has intentions of
possibily starting, and continue the practice of giving more tax cuts to the rich who don't need the money. The other is being accused of being a tax and spend liberal, who will increase the taxes of the wealthy and scare the older people, who are on Social Security. These two are wrestling, with trying to define themselves, before the other succeeds in defining them.
One is being portrayed as a neophyte, while the other is being shown, repeating his own words, that the US army may be in Iraq for 100 years, and that's alright with him, someone called him GI Joe. One is a leo (lion), and the other fancies himself as a lion, strong and able to defend the country in time of war as he was a pilot in the Navy. His plane was shot down, I believe and he was taken as a prisoner of war for five brutal years. My thought is that being a hero, that he is, having served his country, does not give him carte blanc to stroll into
the oval office as President. Show me the money! After seven year plus, of the current administration, we need someone who can think, and reason to see the long, big picture, for the greater good. One who does not throw away the Writ of Habeas Corpus, as being some nonsensical piece of paper, that is meaningless, because he may not even be able to read it, let alone interpret it. Not some, made up story telling person, who starts wars, based on what somebody did or tried to do to their daddy. People with high strung personalities tend to do things irrationally sometimes, and after the crap this country has been through, I am hopeful, that the people will use good judgment and not let some blind spot, take them to a very dark place, that we may never, ever recover from. Hope springs eternal.

is a tongue and cheek assessment of all those, who were initially running for the office of President, on both sides of the spectrum. Take care.

  • Airline Blues

Hey there, With fuel costs rising, seemingly on a daily basis, the airlines are coming up with ways to try to offset the soaring cost, to fly
their planes from place to place. Your baggage
check, first checked bag will cost you $15 on American Airlines, other airlines will probably follow suit. Special seat assignments, will cost an extra fee, Northwest Airlines, will charge $6 for special seat assignments. If you are thirsty and want a soda, the charge will be $2 per soda. Water will also cost $2 on some airlines. If you are an Elite frequent flyer, these fees will be waived.
Fares themselves are being raised, you are able to save money, by taking connecting flights, it would be good to check around and do comparison shopping. The airline industry will still lose billions of dollars of revenue in the future, with the cost of fuel reaching massive heights,
and virtually crushing the budgets of many airlines. One airline was smart enough to purchase fuel, some five years into the future, at current costs. If more airlines had been able to do this same cost saving measure, their losses would be somewhat muted.
Today, you have to do your homework, in order to find cost savings, when you have to travel, advance planning is very important. Fares are rising very quickly, and you must do your research in order to find deals that are favorable for travelers.

  • News Legend

Greetings, This is a very sad day in the U. S. , we lost a giant yesterday. Tim Russert, died of a heart attack on Friday, at 58, and life on Sunday will never be the same. Tim was a joy to watch, he would have people on his show, Meet the Press, and he tried and succeeded, at playing it straight down the middle. Whatever the case, he would be fair, with everyone. He listened to the person he was interviewing, and you always got the sense, that he wanted the audience to have the real story and to know what the person was actually all about.
He worked as an aide to Senator Patrick Monayhan,
and Mario Cumno. Until some seventeen years ago, when he took over as the host of Meet the Press.
The show improved tremendously under his
leadership. His famous dry eraser board, that he used during the 2000 election, between Al Gore and George W. Bush, to let the tv audience know that Florida, Florida, Florida, was the operative word, has been put on display in the Smithsonian Institute, quite a place of honor.
Everyone who knew him, loved Tim, and knew of his love for his son Luke, 22, who just graduated from Boston College. He and his wife Maureen, along with Luke, had just returned from Rome. He was working in his office on Friday, when he collasped, they tried to revive him, but he was gone. Mayor Brown of Buffalo, New York, ordered the flags lowered to half mast, in honor of one of the best, if not the best journalist in the country. As I said, in all seriousness, Sunday mornings will never be the same, there is a huge void in our hearts. Big Tim is no longer with us. God bless his family and friends, with grace and strength, as they endure this incredible loss. Take care.

  • A Promise Kept!

Hey there, See, I knew you thought that I would forget, but I fooled you, didn't I. My parrot joke. Well here it is. This woman would go to
this type of general store, to buy the things she needed at home, every two weeks or so. The owner of the store had a talkative parrot, who sat on a perch in the store, keeping the store
owner company and sometimes entertaining the customers. Whenever the woman would come in and give her order to the storekeeper, he would go to the back of the store, to retrieve the things
she wanted. It never failed, when the owner went to the back, the parrot would look at the woman and say, "you're so ugly"! The woman tried not to pay attention to the parrot, but the parrot would always say the same thing to her, until finally, she decided to tell the owner. He said he didn't know if he could get the parrot to stop, but he would try, he didn't want to lose a customer. The woman came back to the store some three weeks later, went through the same procedure, the owner went to the back to get her merchandise, and while she waited, the parrot was silent. The woman thought to herself, well
this is great, he got the parrot to stop saying
the rude remark. She felt good. She paid for her order, and was walking out of the store, as she got to the door, she could not resist looking back at the parrot, she turned and looked at
the bird, he looked at her and said "you know"!

  • Give Yourself Credit!

Hi, hi, Here's a thought. Why not take the time, every now and then to give yourself credit, for who you are and what you have done in life. You are indeed, a very special human being, there is only one of you, you alone have your talent, your character, your sense of humor (or not), your tenacity (or not), your ability to appreciate the things you appreciate, your skills, your mind, your tastes, your strengths, your weaknesses, your unique laugh, your ability to have empathy, your accomplishments. You are you, in the best sense of the word, and you are here to contribute, hopefully for good, you are loved by some, who you are not even aware of. So love yourself and give yourself a little credit for being this special you. Be thankful, be happy, be you. Take care.

  • Everyday May or May not be a Good day, But....

Hi there, to all you breathing humans,
one more day on this planet of ours. How
many of you, if you had the disposable
income, would like to travel to another
planet, if you could go safely and return
the same? I think it would be fantastic,
not only going to the other planet but
traveling through space, what a blast that
    would be, no pun intended.
Did I tell you my parrot joke. Have to
remember to lay that out for you tomorrow.
    Mental note.
Now, let's get a litle serious, are you always helping people, trying to be the one to lend
a helping hand, that's great, but how about yourself, are you treating yourself well?
Try this for me, read and put into effect:

Always remember, to be your own best friend.

  • Enforce a Marriage Requirement

Well, this just beats all, there is a business establishment in Iran, which is reportly, imposing a requirement, which mandates that all single employees, especially the men, get married within a certain period of time, or lose their job. Why, you ask? Wellll it seems that the business is located, in an area where the "working girls" are numerous.
The men who work there, have evidently been noticed by their employer, requesting the services of said "working girls". Seems that
the boss does not like the situation, or he may be a bit jealous of the men. Don't really know how many of the male employees will comply, but it is a very strange requirement. Wouldn't it appear that the men, would be happier and do their work with more contentment, if they were left to their vices. It is their business, after all. Now, if they get married and come to work, ticked at with some little marital problem, they must go home, and fix it or they risk coming back the next day with the same grief. Hmmmmm, not going to be a work force that is more productive than before. I just wonder, if the company did a feasibility study of the situation, before they made their decision.
    Guess we'll never, ever know.
