It is very hard to watch the fires in California, just like the terrible floods in the midwest. Seems like the water from the floods, should be able, to be channeled over to the fires in California, but alas, not that easy.
There are so far, 300 plus fires that are burning out of control, as has been reported. The top priorites are Big Sur and Goleta which is near Santa Barbara.
The National Guard has been called out to assist with the fires. Many more resources are needed, according to the Governor, and he authorized those resources, in hopes of containing some of the wildfires. There used to be certain times of the year, that the wildfires would burn, but now, according to the Governor, the fires burn year round. In the Santa Barbara area 2,700 homes are threatened. In the Big Sur area, one-half million acres have burned, in the last two weeks, according to reports. This area, would be the size of Jacksonville, Florida. The fires are thought to have been started by lightening strikes. A tragedy in deed. Let's all pray for localized rain, in the areas where
California is burning.

...Hi JennyAlways, cute name. I live in New Jersey, which is on the East coast, we are near Atlantic City. California is all the way over on the west coast. Some five hours by plane. I have visited there a grand total of two times, if I remember correctly. Beautiful warm place, there was a minor earthquake while I was there, scary. Although, I must say a couple of years ago, I was watching tv here, and there was a slight rumble and I thought it was a large truck going over a loose manhole cover, come to find out, it was a minor earthquake about 10 miles away. So, even in New Jersey, the earth is changing beneath us. Those fires are so awful, and the firefighters are stretched thin. I wish them all well and hope they can manage to slow the fires down soon.
How's the weather where you live? Have you always lived there?
We moved up and down the east coast , when I was younger, as my dad was a contractor, who builded homes with my uncle. I was always changing schools, although just because of my mother, I managed to complete high school at sixteen. I was very upset because we moved, when I was in my final year of high school from Norfolk, Virginia, somewhat down South to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, up north. I did not want to go to school, because I had left all my friends, my first real boyfriend, but my mom forced me up in the morning, and I did graduate when I was supposed to. She gets the credit. I got a job to try to help her with my three sisters, and I went to college on weekends and weeknights until I received my Associate's Degree, still need about ten credits to obtain my Bachelor's in Communications. I love words. Sorry to go on so long. I like school as well, I will still be trying to complete my degree, even though I consider myself well out of the student category, then again now adays people are going back, to retrain because of the changing economy. So now that I have talked your ear off, do share what you wish about yourself. I apologize for taking so long, to answer your initial question, I slept on and off today, I have terrible sleep habits, and I just got on the computer. I think it is so cool to talk to people all over the world, as if they were next door.
See you, hope to hear from you, take care.
