Multi-faceted Points of Possible Interest?

by mornin77 @ 2008-08-04 - 07:17:44

In the United States, the sub-prime mortage debacle has affected 48 of the 50 states. There are 2.2 million empty homes, in the U. S. for sale as a result of this crisis, and counting. Some say it will go on until at least 2010.
Some people caught in the awful problem, have taken to burning their homes. Whether the insurance will cover such a situation is doubtful, or whether it would relieve the liability is another question. It has been reported that 400 homes per day are being forclosed upon. Wide spread depression is quite apparent for the people involved. Shouldn't someone be held accountable for all of this ridiculous, unnecessary, greed?

There has been a bill passed
by Congress, and signed by the president, to give assistance to some 400 thousand home owners, from the Federal Goverment.
When it will take effect is not quite known, but it will help some homeowners, It will also supply funds to make sure that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, will not collaspe.

Senator Obama challenged Senator McCain, to a duel over taxes. Senator Obama has stated that he is related to Wild Bill Hickok, who is a distant cousin. Someone noted that Vice President Dick Cheney is
also a distant cousin of Senator Obama. So we are left to wonder, which genes will show up at the duel. Remember the hunting trip, where Mr. Cheney shot his friend in the face, by accident, evidently thinking he was a quail.

Because of Senator McCain's very disparaging ad, comparing Senator Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, and one ad depicting Senator Obama as Moses, parting the water, as "The One", the Obama campaign, received 100,000 donations. If the donations, are around the average $100 level, that they have been receiving, that's a cool one million dollars, without solicitation. Keep up the good work, Senator McCain, blow your horn louder.

Another three banks were closed in the U. S., recently, making that a total of seven closures this year.

The banks and homeowners of America get little sympathy from me: the borrowers should have some responsibility for the lies they put down about their incomes when applying for mortgages, as well as taking such loans on when they knew they could not afford them. The American banks turned out to just be greedy chancers who fobbed off the world with their poor judgments as repackaged investments. Who can trust them or the accountants who backed up their dishonesty?

I do feel some concern that the Federal Government is printing yet more money it doesn't have. The USA is already up to its eyeballs in unsecured debt to the rest of the world, and has been for decades. They can't expect the rest of the planet to keep bailing them out, yet again, because of their huge military, accepting worthless dollars in repayments with which they ask us to use to buy over-priced oil.

Something will have to change. America should take its troops back to the barracks, scale back on the defense spending, stop playing about on credit, get back to work and start paying its debts back responsibly.
