Yesterday U. S. Attorney, Patrick Fitzgerald, gave a press conference, outling the fact that Governor Ron Blagojevich, of Illinois, had been arrested, on charges of mail fraud and embezzlement. These charges stem from wire-taps that were placed in the Governor's home and office, which picked up the Governor, talking about selling the Senate seat, vacated by
by President-Elect Obama. He wanted money, one-hundred thousand to one million dollars. In other instances, the U. S. Attorney stated the Governor wanted campaign cash, once from a Children's Hospital, which was to receive funding, when the Governor did not receive the money from the Hospital officials, he tried to stop the funding from going forth. In another instance, the Governor was looking to receive a job for himself and his wife. Much of these allegations are on tape, secured by the U. S. Attorney's office. One of the Deputy
Attorneys in Illinois has resigned, as of today. President-Elect Obama, is calling on the Governor to resign. There have been three former Governors of Illinois, who have been convicted on charges and jailed, in the past. Must be the water.

Within this scandal, at the news conference, there was the mention of Senate candidate #5, as someone who may have been involved, with the Governor looking to receive cash from him, to make him the person who took the Senate seat vacated by Obama. The identification made today, was that Senate candidate #5 was Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr., who is denying he ever approached the Governor in a "pay-to-play", type of situation. The U. S.Attorney's office stated that Jesse jackson, Jr., is not a target of any investigation.
Representative Jackson, held a news conference and read a statement, that he did not approach the Governorto ask for anything, from a pay-to-play scheme, or send anyone to the Governor on his behalf, he said he does not approve of the pay-to-play scene. He said he will co-operate with the U. S. Attorney's office in whatever capicity.
