The President of Egypt reportedly is discussing a possible short term cease fire agreement between Hamas and israel, but Israel wants Hamas to totally discontinue the firing of rockets into Israel. The number of rockets being fired has decreased, but they are still being launched by Hamas, Scretary Rice is monitoring the situation as well, the talks with Egyptian officials, Hamas and Israel, which continue in the midst of the violence on both sides. One cameraman has been allowed into the area by Israel. One hundred trucks with humanitarian aid have been allowed into Gaza during a limited three hour cease fire period. The United States reportedly says
five hundred trucks are needed to adequately assist with the needs of the people wounded and others, who are without food and water.
Tom Daschle will be the first one to have his confirmation hearing, which is today, instead of Senator Hillary Clinton, who will, as reported here, have her confirmation hearing on Tuesday of next week, she will be second not first as previously reported.
