The top commander in Afghanistan has requested more troops be sent, the Pentagon is holding off non the request because a reassessment is reportedly underway. General McChrystal, has stated that unless more troops are sent in, the United States could risk failure in Afghanistan. Other analysts have said the country does not have any additional troops available to send. President Obama's liberal base, it has been reported wants him to draw down the troops and end the mission in a set time frame, within a short period of time. The Republicans want the president to maintain the troops, send more, from where, who knows, and keep fighting the Taliban. The sensible argument has been made that the Afghan people should be trained, armed, reinforced if need and allowed to fight for their own country's welfare and security.
Three men including a father and a son, who was born in Afghanistan were arrested in Colorado, and held on terrorism charges. One of the men had bomb making information on his computer. As a result of the arrest and additional information, there was an alert issued to all major mass transit systems in the country by authorities. Stadiums, Hotels and Entertainment Centers were also included.
President Obama while at a U. N. meeting held a meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister and the Palestinian leader to try to restart the peace talks. The President did get the two men to shake hands.
The United States government is going to start tracking Greenhouse gas emissions, it has been announced.
The U. S. Senate Finance Committee has started its mark-up of the 564 amendments being considered in the health care reform bill.
A report is surfacing that the FDIC may borrow money from the banks.
New York Governor David Paterson, is being encourage not to run for a full term in 2010, because of his low poll numbers and approval rating.
It has been reported, that no segment of the population in New York is pleased with his performance as Governor.
Former Representative Tom Delay was featured on Monday night's "Dancing With the Stars". He and his partner danced the Cha Cha to "Wild Thing".
The couple received 16 points out of 30, which means they will be back to dance next week. Mr. Delay reportedly fractured his foot but decide to dance any way.
The SEC will be going to trial against Bank of America over the bonuses paid to Merrill Lynch executives. A Judge refused the settlement offer that Bank of America had made in the dispute.
The state of Georgia has had massive downpours of rain in the last few days, 20 inches of rain reportedly fell. Eight people were killed in the flooding that resulted. More rainfall is expected in the state in the next few days. Entire neighborhoods are completely submerged.

poisoning and released from the hospital.

As for Afghanistan.....I still believe that it is a 'War' that will not be won....Let's get off our 'high horse'...that country has yet to be 'conquered' in their history....
