  • Health Care Reform Bill: Senator Joe Says No!

The health care reform bill, will include the "public option", according to the leader of the Senate, Harry Reid. The Democrats in, charge of the Senate, by virtue of their majority membership need 60 votes, to pass the final bill and stop any Republican filibuster. Then along comes Joe, Senator Joseph Lieberman, Independent from Connecticut, has announced that he will block the bill, not allowing it to come to the floor for vote, if it contains the public option. Why? Various reasons voiced by different news analysts speculate that Mr. Lieberman is interested in giving the insurance companies support to continue the fleecing of the public. No verification, but odds are Mr. Lieberman has received funds from insurance companies for his campaigns and wants to continue that relationship in the future. Just a thought, if Senator Lieberman follows through with his promise to join the Republicans in a filibuster, thus giving other Democrats a reason to follow his lead and destroy the opportunity to have a reform bill, he should be stripped of his Homeland Security Chairmanship immediately, and a viable candidate should be found and groomed to run against him in his next election. He does not deserve to be in the Senate. Just a thought. Other unprintable words come to mind.

The DOW was down Monday around 11 a.m., after Senator Harry Reid announced that a public option would be included in the Senate's final bill. Three insurance stocks, Aetna, United Health Group and Wellpoint were seriously down. Senator Joe Lieberman made his announcement, that he would join a Republican filibuster, and the three stocks rose dramatically around 2 p.m. Go figure.

  • U. S. National Swine Flu Emergency Declared!

President Barack Obama, declared a national swine flu emergency, on Friday evening in the United States. Mr. Obama stated that the 2009 H1N1 swine flu pandemic continues to evolve. Though reportedly hard to verify, it is thought that 20,000 people are hospitalized in the U. S.
There have been, as reported, 1,000 deaths linked to the virus. Almost 100 deaths have reportedly been children. The seasonal flu peak is usually between late November and early March. If you have a very high fever, cough and any of the other listed symptoms below, call your doctor, or get to the hospital. You should not go work or school. This is a very dangerous virus, and should be take very seriously. Children do not have strong immune systems to fight this virus and reportedly, it attacks their lungs. Older people with other illnesses should be careful as well. Be very vigilant.

  • Step One: Senate Finance Committee Passes Reform Bill!

After weeks of wrangling back and forth, long evenings and heated discussions, the Senate Finance Committee, passed a health reform bill, 14 to 9, designed to reward the insurance companies more than the American people. This bill being called the "Baucus Bill", does not contain a public option. There is a mandate that requires everyone, in essence, to obtain health insurance, or face a penalty if they don't. There are supposed to be some exceptions to the penalties and government subsidies to help the people with low incomes. One Republican, Senator Olympia Snowe, voted with the Democrats, to move the bill out of committee. All five of the committee bills must now be assimilated for a final bill, then combined with the House bill, which contains a public option. It will be put up for a final vote by the Senate and the House, and moved on to the Presidents desk for signing. Today, another Republican Senator, Susan Collins said she could support the bill, but it needed a lot more work. Other Republicans may find the public pressure too much to withstand, and vote for the bill in its final form, regardless of their parties wishes, that they keep President Obama from achieving a monumental goal of a overhaul of a disastrous health care system.

Rush Limbaugh's words are coming back to haunt him, as he endeavors, along with the St. Louis Blues owner, Dave Checkett, to purchase the
St. Louis Rams. The Commissioner, Roger Goodell reportedly said, that the conservative commentator's "divisive" comments would not be tolerated from any NFL insiders. Twenty-four of the thirty-two league teams must approve the sale. Colts owner Jim Irsay publicly vowed to vote against Limbaugh. Atlanta Falcon's owner, Arthur Blank echoed the commissioner's words that Limbaugh's inappropriate, incendiary and insensitive words do damage and it's something they do not need. The
league and the union are said to have similar stances as the commissioner. Some black players say they would not play for him. The Reverand's Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson are lobbying the owners of the teams to reject Limbaugh's bid. Some black players are saying they would not play for the man. This all goes back as well, to Limbaugh's remarks about the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, Donavon McNabb, who is black, and his feeling that McNabb was not a good player, but was being kept because of other reasons. He was terminated from ESPN as a sports announcer, for his less than tactful, stupid remarks. But in the end, my question, will money talk?? Breaking news: Money did not talk loud enough, Rush was dropped from the bidding process. He will not be able to brag about his team, this time anyway.

First Lady of California, Maria Shriver, was caught on camera, three times reportedly, using her cell phone while driving. Her husband, the

  • President Barack Obama: Nobel Peace Prize Winner!

Well, wonder of wonders, the Nobel Prize Committee, decided to bestow upon President Barack Obama, the Nobel prize for peace. He becomes only the third sitting president, behind Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, to be a recipient of the Nobel prize. The spokesperson for the committee, said they were giving the President the award for his efforts at reaching out to all, to bring peace to the world, for trying to rid the world of nuclear arms, and his efforts towards ending climate change. The President was told early this morning, and he spoke from the rose garden, saying that he wasn't sure that he deserved the award, that he was humbled by it. He also said that he was accepting on behalf of all those, who are working toward having peace in the world. That we must all work toward solving our global problems, in essence that one country or one person cannot do it alone. It must be a joint effort to rid the world of nuclear arms, and improve the planet to try to reduce global warming. He said he was making a call to arms, for all people to help to end suffering and pain of all those on the planet. History making in itself, hopefully this recognition will help the President
rally those who are in opposition to his effort, to bring health care to as many people as possible in the United States, to make a positive change in the climate change battle, before we are all in more serious trouble, regarding the earth's resources than we are now. Congratulations Mr. President, we applaud you and your efforts, may you have great success, as you go forward.

The plan in its current form will reportedly cover 94% of Americans. Bob Dole has added his voice, to promote passage of the bill.

Countdown's Keith Oberman is calling for a six state free health clinic operation, to put pressure on the six Democrats who are standing in the way, by siding with the Republicans to block the passage of the health care reform bill.
